My grandmother's sourdough starter

Myzithra Cheese

Aged myzithra (myzithra xeri) is a hard, salty cheese. I make angel hair or spaghetti noddles and then brown some butter. I pour the small amount of butter over the cooked noodles and then add myzithra cheese. It is tasty with thinly grated or thickly grated cheese. Experiment first before tasting!

These are some sweet potatoes I think...

Sushi

Avocado. I sliced two ripe avocados and this is what they looked like. One mushy and one firm. The firmer one tasted better to me.
This is a small $5 rice cooker my mom bought for me two years ago. It is the perfect size for 2-3 people. I highly recommend these types of rice cookers.

Basic toasted nori for rolling sushi rice.
I go ahead and use fake crab, spicy sauce, and mayonnaise for some of the sushi rolls.I usually add alvacado to most sushi rolls.

The finished product under saran wrap. Simply slice into 10 pieces and enjoy! Yummm...just add soy sauce and wasabi.

I love to eat huckleberries in nonfat organic yogurt in the mornings. I just sprinkle in a few frozen berries and I am good to go!

This is a picture of some jello/pear/raisin/almond/marshmallow mice my mom used to make when I was a kid. We get many of our food ideas from a book called Play With Your Food.

Here are some pictures about some ingredients I prepare for my taco nights. I usually just use whatever in is in the fridge.

This is a Dutch Puff. My favorite neighbor Kathy Inman used to make these for her daughter and I for breakfast. We would put powdered sugar, peanut butter, jam and real maple syrup on top. They are very eggy!

Recipe:

Heat oven to 425 degrees.

Put 1/4 cup butter in glass 9x11 pan. Put in heated oven until melted and slightly brown.

Mix

1 cup milk
1 cup flour
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Poor batter into melted butter and bake in middle rack for approximately 20 minutes.

These are my oh so amazing cousins shucking corn in the hot august sun. We have a tradition of harvesting and freezing fresh corn each summer for those long winter months.
